‘Arrogance’ of ignoring need for sleep

Issues surrounding the importance of sleep has been much discussed of late. A few months ago I attended a Biomedical Symposium in Singapore in which the keynote speech was  about the importance of sleep. Nowadays I believe all of us are running around with a lack of sleep. Somehow the word ‘sleep’ seemingly equates lazy, and lack of sleep shows that one is dedicated and hardworking. This culture of lacking  sleep absolutely needs to be addressed in schools. The new norm for a while now; spending hours in school, only to go home and do extra tuition and then finish  homework and get ready for the next day. And now, another article by BBC on lacking sleep. Maybe we are waiting for our kids to drop dead before we start doing something.
